University contract payment deadline extended to 15 October: at least 25% of the base fee is due

The deadline for paying the tuition contract and completing enrolment at higher education institutions for the 2026/2027 academic year has been extended to 15 October 2026 inclusive. By then, at least 25% of the annual base contract fee must be paid. The Ministry of Higher Education, Science and Innovation announced this on 20 September 2026.

Who is covered

The extension covers three groups:

  • Applicants recommended for admission to bachelor's and master's programmes
  • Students transferred from other universities or reinstated by way of transfer
  • Reinstated students

How much to pay

  • Base contract: at least 25% of the annual fee
  • Differentiated (higher-rate) contract: at least 50%

The remaining amount is paid during the academic year according to the schedule set in the contract with the university.

Who is responsible for what

A fee-paying education contract is a civil-law agreement. The student or the payer (usually a parent) is responsible for meeting the deadlines. The university is responsible for providing tuition on the agreed terms.

What this means in practice. The extension itself does not waive payment.

  • First-year, master's and transferred students need to make the minimum payment and complete the contract paperwork by 15 October
  • Keep receipts and a copy of the contract
  • If you cannot raise the amount in time, contact the university in advance or consider a bank education loan
  • Check whether you are entitled to any fee benefits
